The short version
I Found It At is designed so your data stays on your devices. We don't collect, store, or sell your personal information. The relay server only passes encrypted messages between your phone and your home computer — it cannot read them.
What the relay server sees
When you use the hosted relay service at ifounditat.app, the server temporarily processes:
- Your pairing token (a random identifier linking your phone to your server)
- Encrypted message payloads (the server cannot decrypt these)
- Public keys for end-to-end encryption setup
- A device identifier for your paired devices
Message contents are not visible to the relay. All payloads are end-to-end encrypted.
What we don't collect
- No analytics or tracking scripts
- No cookies
- No IP address logging
- No usage telemetry in the apps
- No advertising identifiers
Self-hosted relay
If you run your own relay server, no data passes through our infrastructure at all. The relay server code is open source and can be audited.
Data retention
Pairing records are stored in the relay database for as long as your pairing is active. When you delete a pairing, all associated data is removed immediately. Messages are forwarded in real-time and are not stored on the relay.
Third-party services
The iOS and macOS apps do not include any third-party analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs. The apps communicate only with your configured relay server and your home server.
Children's privacy
I Found It At does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The service is intended for use by individuals who can consent to these terms.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page if anything changes. Since we collect nearly nothing, changes are unlikely.
